My hungry ghost has been slurping up social media videos on different dog trainers, the most recent being the Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan.
Cesar’s basic premise is that dogs are pack animals and look to the pack leader to submit to and follow.
In a domesticated situation where the dog is living with a human, Cesar says that the human must be the leader, or else the dog will become the pack leader.
Cesar comes into households, teaches the dog that he is the pack leader. Then Cesar trains the humans to learn how to be the pack leaders.
The dog usually then experiences a less stressful life as they can relax knowing that the human is the leader and will provide and protect them.
God as pack leader, man/woman as dog?
Watching these videos got me contemplating whether it’s best for our growth and life to be like dogs? Is it best for us to surrender and be obedient to an All-Loving God?
The many, many times when I went on my own, without consultation from intuition/the Holy Spirit, has generally ended up disasterously and with much loss. Haha, the ego can be difficult to let go of.
And fortunately, I’m not totally clueless. After endless losses and hard knocks, I am slowly learning not to go on my own.
So now my inclination is yes – yes, it is best for our growth to be obedient and surrendered to God, as dogs are to their owners.
God is constantly guiding, protecting, and providing for us. As we go under the protective wings of God (in whatever name and form resonates with your heart), then naturally in time, our lives become full of grace.
Whether that grace translates to less stress, more fulfilling relationships, better health, more abundance, more peace and love, I’m not certain if it will look that way at all times of one’s life. There may be seasons of travail.
But in generally, more and more good stuff seems to be permeating my life.
And I do know that God’s grace is definitely something I want more of in my life.
And so, it’s best for me to be humbled, obedient, and surrendered.
Let me know your thoughts about surrender, obedience and an All-Loving God.
